holla-at-cha boy!! so here's the big thing that quite a few of you may have heard me blurb about. one day before my one year full time anniversary at martha i have been promoted to this new position. it didn't exactly come the way i wanted it to but i'm where i should have been a year ago. well this whole thing has driven me even more, i'm happy but not satisfied so i just need to keep pushing myself. anyway right now i'm doing my thing and hopefully this just keeps snow balling and i'll get bigger. for now i've practically spent my raise on some bling lol good times...good times! |

| so i just spent the last two weeks working with victoria pearson. she's also one of the top photographers at martha and just a lot of fun to work with. during my early experiences in this field i began to have the impression that all the top photographers were just assholes in order to be respected. working with her just put all of that to the side and makes the job fun again. vicki is not only great as a photographer but she is so fun to work with. never did i ever get a sense that she is better then you or acts like she's a god like some other jerks. one of the reasons why i am still fulltime instead of freelance is because of the opportunities i get to work with so many high profile and great photographers. so i'm going to give this some more time and i'm going to try and milk it for all its worth until i gain enough knowledge to go on my own. |

| a few of us at martha went down to the apple store tonight to listen to bill abronowicz speak. i've had the pleasure to be on location with bill a few times at highpoint. for some background bill has shot for martha since the magazine started and has shot for many other magazines as well as commercial clients. for a man of his status he is one of the most down to earth people i know. when he showed his work tonight it wasn't about the jobs that pay him the big bucks, it was the images that were dear to him. to me that's what being a photographer is about...to link the side of art to commercial work. there are commercial jobs out there that give a photographer creative control but i must say a majority of them are pretty much molded to how an art director views it or how a stylist prepares it. being one of the top photographers at martha, he has a lot of input on shoots but its motivating to see how his personal work molds his vision in commercial work. well here's to the man who greeted me with "what's up my third world brotha"!

| REPEAT... chariots were down 16 at one point late in the first half..keys players in foul trouble in an already short bench, they fought to not only comeback and win it but held the other team to only 6 second-half points. thats pure heart and defense out there. i'll be honest after the way the summer tournament ended i really wanted no part in basketball anymore. but tonight the guys handed me a trophy and that just brought it all back. not the fact that they won but i haven't seen them in months until tonight and i still have a part. that's what its all about in the end. the connections you have made and the times shared good or bad. so who knows what's going to happen in the future...for now i am going to enjoy this moment.
